Where Have All the Podcasts Gone?

September 19, 2011

Podcasts. Podcasts can be a great source of information, fun and a way to share our love of games and other things. I’ve listened to Podcasts for a while, starting with 93.3’s Preston and Steve. From there I started listening to WoW Podcasts. There was a large selection of WoW Podcasts, and I listened to a whole bunch of them.

Then I started playing Rift. I loved it from the beginning, but I wanted to get more. So I started searching for Rift Podcasts. I found several different ones, but then it started.

It started with The Rift podcast. They closed down due to health issues. Then it happened to Rift Watchers. They stopped due to time issues. The most recently one sadly was Player vs Rift. They stopped because Casey, the main guy, got this amazing new mystery job.

Out of those three, I’m going to miss PvR the most. The dynamic between Casey, Joe, and Dave was incredible. That’s the sad news. The good news, is they will be doing another podcast together.

So if you’re looking for some new ones, there are other great ones like Rift Runners, and Rift Riders.

However PvR is still alive through the Player vs Rift guild.

So until next time don’t forget to reload, so you don’t run out of ammo.

Just Frackin Peachy

August 28, 2011

Warning!!! Warning!!! Nongaming rant ahead!! Read it if you want…. You have been warned….
Ok this week has been just craptacular. I live in Delaware, and let’s recap. A 5.9 earthquake. A hurricane. Tornados. No power since 8:30 last night. Flooding. A neighbor who’s been running a loud as shit generator since 11:00 last night.
Screw it, this week has sucked like no other week has sucked before. Screw it, I’m going back to sleep.

Coin Locked While At Work… Umm Not Good…

May 11, 2011

So I checked my gmail this morning and what do I see? A message from Trion about….. getting coin locked…. Well…ummm…. yeah I was at work when they sent the email. So either Trion had a glitch in the matrix or… shudder I was HACKED again. Sigh I’m gonna have to grab the mobile authenticator I think, I just wish they had a hardware version if it out…

God I Hate Queues…

April 16, 2011

The servers went down for the final update for the 2nd phase of the River of Souls world event for about half an hour. So I decided to watch a bad zombie for a bit. When I come back, what do I see but a 4 FREAKING HOUR QUEUE!?!?!?!
That just sucks beyond belief….

Ow My Head

March 30, 2011

Ok I know it’s been a while since I wrote anything here. March has not been a good month for me so far, and the fact I was laid up with bronchitis for over a week didn’t help me any either.
So right now I have 2 different posts that I’ve been working on, and I’m not happy with either one. One was about idiots on the WoW auction house, and the other one was about my first impressions of Rift. Both are stuck in draft status and are in danger of being deleted, since I don’t like how either one is going. So both are in limbo, I’m not sure if either one is going to make it.
But, I am still here, I am still playing WoW, and I have started playing Rift. I do plan on writing about both games. I am basically playing a BM hunter in WoW and a ranger in Rift, since both play very similar to each other. So until next time don’t forget to reload, so you don’t run out of ammo.

An Open Request to WordPress

January 4, 2011

To whom it may concern At WordPress,
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN FIX THE DAMN IPHONE APP!!!!!!
I am tired of working on a post to only have the changes I’ve made vanish like a fart in the wind. I use my iPhone to write most, if not all of my posts. There are few things more frustrating than almost finishing a post, then saving it, coming back later to finish it, and finding ABSOLUTELY nothing was saved.
Thank you for listening to my mini-rant,
Gweninu and Sushi

Gear Score Is A Crutch

May 27, 2010

WARNING RANT AHEAD THAT IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK…

Gear Score. Every tool on WoW seems to think that, that is all that matters now. I am sick and tired of seeing this in trade…
“ICC 10 LFM Must have a GS of 5300 or higher”.

Really? A GS of 5300 for ICC 10 now? Are you smoking crack? Seriously, we have the ICC buff now. This week, the buff was increased to a 20% bonus to damage, health, and healing. You don’t need to be decked out in full ICC 25 gear to start running 10 mans any more.
I mean seriously, I’ve hear people use the excuse that they don’t want to carry you. That’s bullcrap, plain and simple. What you want asshat, is easy times. You don’t want to have to work for the gear or the badges, you want them handed to you. Piss off ya elitist jacktard… If someone is in full T9, but still doesn’t have that one or two pieces of gear to push them over your epeen standards, take them damn it. They will never be able break through your artificial barrier.

I’ve seen plenty of situations where a person with a lower GS, has not only done more damage, but has done more damage over all. It depends on the player, not the gear. You can pick up a Mark of Supremacy, and get a huge boost to your GS. However, the MoS is a piece of crap. It blows if you are at hit cap. However, if you are at cap or near the cap, you are wasting badges and a trinket slot. Drop that PoS and get a much better trinket. Go spend the gold on a Darkmoon Card: Greatness. Go grab a Mirror of Truth. Yes they are a lower item level and won’t raise your GS, but they will make you a better hunter.

This rant has been building up for a while now. As I’ve said before Daughter wants me start leading an ICC 10 soon. Wife wants to come along also, so we’ve been running randoms me, Wife, and Daughter to get them geared up for it. Both of them are now in full T9 gear, and now all we have to do is finish getting enough people together to start running. So any ways, Wife is starting to get discouraged about raiding because of GS. She was sitting in the AH and made the mistake of glancing up, and kept seeing ICC 10s being advertised. The catch was, you had to have a GS of 5300 or higher and they wanted you link your achievements. Needless to say she was completely discouraged by the whole thing. I told her that, that was bullshit.

Hmmm let’s see, when ICC first came out no one had a GS of 5300. We were in T9 gear, and maybe, MAYBE a piece or two of badge gear. We ran ICC 25s with that gear, and without the ICC buff ya pussies. Suck it up. Plain and simple you are not elite. You are not hard core. You are just some whiny little bitch who wants to prance in, and get easy badges and gear. You don’t want to work for it. You want everything handed to you. Deal with it, and check your epeen at the log in screen. Have you downed the Lich King yet? Are you doing ICC hard mode yet? If not, get the fuck off of your high horse and come back down to earth Major Tom. L2P plzkkthx. You think that you’re so leet, so uber, so powa… Guess what, you’re not. Now quit stroking your epeen, show me that you’re hard core. Go in to ICC without the buff. Take the person who doesn’t have the crazy GS that you require.

Just to give you some more examples, VOA, and the weekly raids. Easy stuff, things that my way under geared alts could belly dance through. Naxx? Gotta have a 5k GS. XT? Gotta have a 5k GS. I swear, grow up and get a life. VOA and the weeklies were made to help people gear up.
Huff huff huff. God I feel better now. Nothing like a little rant to help you blow off some steam. So until next time don’t forget to reload, so you don’t run out of ammo.

Don’t Feed The Trolls

May 12, 2010

Trolls, people with less life than me. Forum trolls are the lowest form of all trolls. What’s even worse, is most of the time these low lifes are too cowardly to post under their normal handles.
Everywhere you look, you’ll find a troll. GU comics did a hilarious comic about forum trolls. It really sums up everything that makes a troll… well a troll.
If you ever want to see true troll mastery, visit the WoW forums. Oh, and don’t forget to bring steel wool to scour your eyes afterwards.
Recently, Belghast’s blog Tales Of The Aggronaut was hit by a particularly nasty troll named Shagrat. Here’s what he said:

Ratshag, on April 27th, 2010 at 12:08 PM Said:

I read this post, and I see nuthin’ positives about yer 25-man raid. Is a lotta work, it destroys sanity, is stressful, is less fun, folks prefer the 10-mans, is hard fer ta coordinate different level raiders. And this is all under the current regime. So why in the name of Varian Wrynn’s dinky little ‘nads are you upset what it might die? If it’s really that craptastic, yer better off without it. And so is everyone else.

Wow someone has some issues, I think. Really, do you have nothing better to do than that? I wish I had that much free time…
I guess the good thing about my blog not being one of the bigger blogs, is that I’m not as much of a target lol. I mean seriously is your life really that empty and void of even the smallest shred of anything resembling fun? Seriously get a life kids, go outside and see the world for a while.
So until next time remember to grab your asbestos underwear, and don’t forget to reload so you don’t run out of ammo.

Being Sick Sucks…

April 6, 2010

Hack, Cough, wheeze… Hack, cough, wheeze… Ugh I hate getting a spring bug. The only fun part about being sick, is I usually get to catch up on lost sleep. No dice this time though. I spent all of last week out of commission. Wife needed me to run us up to pick up fabric and other crafty type things at the super sales. My oldest just got her learner’s permit, so I was supposed to take her out to practice her driving. We also had to cut out over 1000 denim squares that we sell online. All this and more while I’m sick as a dog. I felt so crappy this week I passed on both raids and didn’t even look at FFXIII.

Once a gaming geek always a gaming geek…

I loving gaming of all types. I’ve played all kinds. From D&D, Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer 40K, even LARPing. I’ve been a dice chucker, card flopper, mini mover and more.

MtG was a major addiction for me at one point. Not only was it addictive, but I had a blast playing it also. I was a player, but more than that, I was a collector. At one point, I think I had close to 20,000 cards in my collection. I didn’t have all the sets. I didn’t have the most rare and expensive cards. I was hopelessly addicted to opening the packs. I would buy the booster packs by the box full, and I would rip in to them like a man possessed. I loved the thrill of finding out what rares, uncommon, extra rares I would find.

Why this walk down memory lane? It’s the WoW:TCG. I’ve picked up packs here and there, but never as bad as I was with MTG. I kept hoping to get an in game item or a pet or a mount. The cost helped to keep the addiction in check for the most part, not to mention they aren’t the easiest to find in my area. However, that changed one night in Wal-Mart. Several months ago, while we were at Wal-Mart, I decided to pick up a pack or two. Then I saw it. They had boxes of booster packs for $20 each. I shakily picked up one box, and Wife popped the other two in to the cart when my back was turned for me. 🙂 Well since then its been a fight to not go wild on eBay to buy any and all booster boxes, to rip into the shiny shiny packages…

Off The Wagon, And Loving It

Well between the cold meds and lack of sleep I fell off the card wagon hardcore. I picked up a box of Heroes of Azeroth, and a box of Blood of the Gladiator. Well I suppose it could have been worse. I could’ve picked up a spectral tiger…

So now I wait checking the mail to see if my shinies are here yet. If the RNG Gods smile upon me, I’ll end up with several loot cards. Then there’s all the UDE points to spend on Lando’s Pet boxes. Maybe I’ll get lucky and the RNG gods will smile upon me and gimme an etherial trader or a dragon kite pet….

So until next time don’t forget to send more booster packs… errr… ummm reload I mean, so you don’t run out of ammo.

When The Machine Gods Aren’t Happy With You…

March 7, 2010

Ok, I’ve been trying to run a base line test on the PTR for basic damage. The plan is/was/will be to shoot 2000 rounds at the practice dummy just using auto shot. This should in practice give me a good start to checking out if FI and AE are stacking, and if so are they doing it right. Now all I need is for the PTR to stay up for me. After  a few minutes it keeps having a fatal crash. It would seem that the work they did on the 5th didn’t fix it and now I’m also crashing when I mount up also. With all the crashes on the PTR so far, I decided to hop on the live server, and run an all auto shot test. I fired off 2000 shots at the dummy while Dev nommed away on it. Now if the PTR will ever stay on long enough, I can then run a 2000 shot auto shot test with and without a mage in the group. I’ll be able to see if the 3% bonus from FI being on all the time is working right, and if FI stacks with AE. So it has come to the point where I’ve decided to uninstall the PTR and try to reinstall it.

On other news, DRC is slowly but surely making progress through ICC. Thursday night we had our first 25 man Festergut kill and started taking shots Rotface. So  it won’t be long till we start smacking the Prof around, and the rest of the wings. So until next time don’t forget to reload, so you don’t run out of ammo.
